An office chat with Anita a vibrant, energetic and empowered surgically menopausal woman who would not take “no” for an answer. Anita had undergone a hysterectomy and was suffering from menopausal symptoms. She related that about thirty days after her hysterectomy “my body started to change and I thought I was loosing my mind. Nervousness, anxiety attacks, hair loss, dry skin, loss of libido, just everything I could think of all at once.” She went on to say that she had suffered from hot flashes and night sweats and that “I had changed to a different person.” I asked about her sex life and she responded, “There wasn’t any sex. I didn’t want to have sex, I wasn’t thinking about it, I wasn’t talking about it, it was the last thing on my mind.” That wasn’t very good as she was a newly wed. She returned to the surgeon who did the hysterectomy, “He told me that it was all in my head and that he did not believe in hormones and that he was tired of women coming in there after watching Dr. Oz and thinking he could do magic, he didn’t want to listen to anything I wanted to say.”
We treated Anita with hormone implants with a combination of bio identical estrogen and testosterone and she responded well. Her husband was going on a trip and she related that she wanted to surprise him when he got back. “I got a black trench coat, black bustier, black heels, black garters, I wrapped up in the coat and picked him up at the airport.” When they got back to their home she took off the coat. “It was a very nice evening.”
I think Anita is a superstar.
